First Meet & Greet

What happened

• Bingo to break the ice - every guest got a bingo card and roamed the room finding people who matched curious descriptions. By the end, nearly everyone had met someone new.
• A board of needs and offers - each person wrote what they could use help with and where they could lend their own expertise. Post-its filled the board, and the founders' team has been connecting people seeking guidance with people ready to offer it.
• Asking boldly - a conversation on asking for what you deserve, from appraisals and promotions to negotiating in interviews. The room's view: when merit is evident, ask with confidence and without apology. For hiring managers, a reminder that clarity in job descriptions is essential.
• A quiz and a vote - the room turned out to be full of trivia enthusiasts. To close, members voted on what they want from WiTG next by dropping lentils into cups marked with ideas, and a suggestion box collected more.

Who was in the room

Many of us were navigating our very first jobs after college, alongside researchers with doctorates in molecular biology and women well into their careers. Questions flowed freely and ideas were exchanged with enthusiasm.
